The story is about a a 12 year old boy in possession of a retired rescue dog named Hero who finds a small puppy scared and alone. While Ben is struggling to keep up with schoolwork, take care of his dogs and work on baseball, he is also dealing with a rude new kid at school who plays the same position as him in baseball. When he loses the puppy he has to turn to Hero's tracking skills to find him.This book has lots of intense action and moves quickly. My 11 year old recommends this book for 5th-6th grade. The words are simple to read but the plot is intricate. If you're looking for an action-packed dog themed book, this is the one.
Reading is one of those things we have to push our son to do with all the other distractions there are. Not with this book. My son loved it and read it in a couple of days. Normally he would have taken a month with a book this size (not really that big) because he would get distracted. Reading a whole book over two hundred pages in a week has to be some kind of record for him. I will definitely look into more books by this author.
The characters were very believable, the action fast- moving and exciting, and the story all-around very satisfying. I would highly recommend this book to kids about 7yo+ and dog lovers of all ages.
Great book. My son pick this book for his new reading book. We read pages together every night before he went to bed. He said he would love to get the other series of the book when he finish this one.
Completely disappointed. My son asked for these books for Christmas . They arrived bent, ripped and looked used. Absolutely ridiculous.I paid for NEW books, not damage tbat look uaed.
I donated the books I ordered to a school classroom so they could read good, great books!
This book makes loving a dog so worth while.
My 8yr old son would not put this book, and the other two in the series down. He was following me in the store reading this book. I could not get him to stop reading!
