It is extremely well written in comprehensible plain language. The narrative is made more interesting with Dr Bassett’s own autobiographic notes about his personal development and experiences. Emphasis is always on the whole picture and handling and managing allergies in holistic approach and not a simple prescription for a magic magic cure. Emphasis is on sharing all information with the patient so that he or she is a partner in approaching the problem as a pieces of detective work. Each one receives their own combination of solutions for environmental management and control of medication.The book is also up-to-date including latest findings fo prevention of peanut allergy by exposure to peanuts in early life, and the large NIH surveys on common household allergens in household dust. He also follows the conventional wisdom that allergens made up of small particles like those from cat are readily airborne and inhaled, while dustmite is in the form of larger particles the bulk of which are found in bedding, upholstery or carpeting.Like least:Measurement of the fraction suspended in the air is important and, even when the bulk of the allergen is in the carpeting, it is the fraction that is in the air which we are inhaling and may penetrate our lungs. We hope that a future edition of Dr Bassett’s book will include this new thinking. As an example, Inspirotec provides such a service. Andl like Dr Bassett, emphasizes the importance of empowering the patient with complete information.
This book serves many purposes. It is based on Science and is such a great book of common sense and obviously, the culmination of many years of medical knowledge obtained from a caring Allergist with over 25 years in practice. This book would assist anyone in understanding the various allergic conditions to help both themselves and family members live a healthier life, in dealing with allergies, asthma, and very complex odd allergic reactions that we have all scratched our heads along with our doctors in finding the perfect solution. I would highly recommend this book to anyone who has not found the solution to their allergic problems and who wants to explore the up to date research in new solutions to age old problems.
I’ve suffered from various allergies all my life. Finally a SINGLE resource that explains things in a wholistic way, combining food and the environment, giving a full view of the problem. Love the focus on prevention. Full of scientific info, but easy to read and apply.

Dr. Bassett does a great job of covering the Allergy spectrum from food to airborne allergies. I highly recommend this book to someone who wants to understand allergies in an easy to digest manner. You can read it from cover to cover or select chapters that interest you. Excellent job!
This book gave me a better understanding of my Asthma and allergy symptoms.
