We all love our Chilton manuals and This Shop manual covered more than a dozen different models. Each set of models that share the same parts are Tabbed in Black. You go straight to the models that encompasses your model. It even shows diagram work as to the way each item came apart and goes back together. (No leftover parts)..Great!

This Repair manual is ok if your going to light maintenance, but don't waist your money if your tractor needs major work. It covers just a little bit on a lot of different models but doesn't tell anything about diagnosing problems or testing different hydraulic pressures or splitting the tractor.Your much better off spending about $100 to buy a complete John Deere service manual for your model tractor. The one I ended up buying has 612 pages and it covers it all !!

We purchased a 1978 JD Model 2040 tractor from a JD dealer. Over time we got two different operators manuals from the dealer for that year and model; neither matched our dash design. We ordered this book from Amazon.com and it was exactly what we needed. It even showed how to use the PTO, which the dealer's copies did not. This is the Best Book Ever.
